AluCLEAN Refining Rod
AluCLEANÂ
AluCLEAN is a patented system for precision injection of refining salts into the semi-continuous and continuous aluminium casting process that offers a metered addition of chloride salts to clean and refine the molten metal. This technology presents as an effective means to de-wet inclusions and reduce undesirable alkali metals by using commercially available feeding systems similar to those that have been used for grain refining rod applications for decades. This proven and reliable technology allows for precise feeding of the AluCLEAN rod just prior to, or in the first chamber of the commercial degassing unit normally found in most modern casting operations.
AluCLEAN rod can replace gaseous chlorine as a cleansing method for all commercial wrought alloys. With an addition rate as low as 4 grams of refining salt per ton of molten metal, this system presents a safe, reliable and measurable system for metal cleanliness inputs.
With a specific gravity just lower than that of the molten aluminium, the molten salt becomes miscible in the flowing molten metal and has a longer retention time than chlorine gas which provides a greater efficacy in removing oxides and alkali metals. The high purity aluminium delivery sheath simply dissolves in the metal and becomes part of the wrought alloy.
